The Charlotte ISES Board set a very ambitious goal for the 2008/2009 chapter year to rethink, revamp and reinvent the EVIEs. As our biggest annual fundraising event, the EVIEs have had its up and downs and we have heard our share of raves, along with some grumblings...it's too long, the same people win every year, the process is rigged, I can't compete against that company, the event is underwhelming, etc. The Board took all of this information into consideration and after much debate and discussion we came up with a new approach for 2009.
Some of the changes will be immediately apparent, such as the two-event format of a lunch awards ceremony and an evening celebration, while others may not be so instantly obvious. You'll notice that some of the award categories have changed or have different names. Most importantly, we are providing for the first time very clear information regarding the submission process, how each entry will be judged, the point values associated with the entry requirements and clarification in areas that have generated the most questions in the past.
Behind the scenes, we have established policies and procedures to document exactly how the entry process should work. Immediately following the EVIEs, we'll evaluate the process as a whole to determine if changes should be made for 2010.
This event can't happen without you and we strongly encourage your feedback to help us make it better. We hope you find this new entry process clearer and easier to follow and look forward to the new and improved EVIEs in March!
